Google Ads Automation: what it can actually run on its own
Google Ads automation is a system running the account's management tasks without a person opening the platform for every change. Attribution blocks irrelevant search terms, adds keywords, writes and publishes search ads, pauses what underperforms and reactivates what became worth it again — all inside the customer's account. Every change is logged with the reason, the data window used and the confidence level, and can be undone.

What the system runs inside Google Ads
Each module below is a separate job, with its own criteria and log. The numbers are a floor, not a ceiling: an account's history is deleted once it leaves the panel.
Search term blocking
Blocks terms unrelated to what the account sells, or that spent without converting: 112,516 terms judged one by one, 9,204 blocked. When a block turns out wrong, the term comes back — 209 unblocks.
Keyword addition
The search is constant, but the door is narrow: out of 279,534 candidates evaluated, 7,919 got in and 267 were later removed — fewer than three in a hundred made it through. There's a daily cap, so a group that already converts never gets diluted in one move.
Search ad writing
Writes and publishes full ads, with 15 headlines and 4 descriptions built from the ad group's own keywords: 1,454 ads published. The vocabulary comes from the account, not a template repeated across clients.
Ad pausing and reactivation
12,964 ads evaluated, 2,340 paused and 875 reactivated. Reactivation is part of the job: if whatever replaced a paused ad performs worse, the paused one goes back live.
Assets and extensions
Sitelinks, callouts and other assets come and go with performance: 1,165 created, 352 paused and 5 unlinked.
Performance-based ad group creation
When a theme shows enough volume and quality, it earns its own ad group: 185 new groups, some from themes flagged by the client, some opened by the system itself.
Active keyword management and experiments
Keywords that lost performance get paused, and ones that stand out earn their own group: 254 paused and 14 promoted. In parallel, the system builds formal campaign tests — 15 experiments created.

What separates this from an automated rule
The system declines far more than it does
An automated rule fires when a number crosses a fixed threshold, without weighing what the item means for the business. Attribution evaluates item by item and also logs what it decided not to do: over a hundred thousand terms examined and deliberately kept. That's 454,272 log lines, roughly 418,306 of them item-by-item decisions — about 17 evaluations for every action executed.
Something that executes almost everything it evaluates is just obeying a threshold; something that declines sixteen out of every seventeen items is exercising judgment. And the logged refusal is auditable — you can see exactly why an expensive term stayed active.
The system corrects its own decisions
Automation that only knows how to move forward accumulates error. The 209 unblocks and 875 reactivations show the decision gets revisited with new data: a paused ad comes back when its replacement performs worse, and a term gets released when the block turns out to be a false positive.
The criteria calibrate from that account's own data
There's no fixed number that applies to every account. The unconverted spend that justifies a block, and the volume that authorizes opening a new group, both come from that account's own history on a rolling window. A high-ticket, long-cycle account isn't judged by the same ruler as an impulse-purchase one.
A slice is always reserved for exploring alternatives. If the system only ever invested in what already works, the account would converge on a handful of terms and never discover the next ones.
The decision travels with its evidence attached
Every action carries the reason, the data window considered and the confidence level. It's the same principle behind audience comparison: the difference between two groups only becomes a decision once the observed volume supports the conclusion.

Action volume has grown month over month since logging began. The growth doesn't come from more people working — it comes from more connected accounts and more frequent runs per module. Because it's scheduled, the pace doesn't depend on anyone watching the panel.
